No, he was not a communist leader, and was a vile piece of human excrement that is sitting besides Hitler in Hell.
He was a CIA puppet put into place to destabilize Vietnam, and he proceeded to try and “deindustrialize” Cambodia by killing all intellectuals, college educated people, factory workers, and many ethnic minorities. It got so bad with nearly 25% of Cambodia being massacred, that Vietnam invaded and deposed Pot.
He praised Hitler, the Japanese during WW2, and his polices were essentially Nazism, with a veneer of communism only to bank on popular support to get the party put into power.
He believed that all technology was non-materialist, and that humans should return to agrarian societies. When I mean “all technology”, I mean that if a person needed to wear glasses or use a wheelchair, then that was grounds for extermination.
He was a deranged, Nazi psychopath. He earned his spot in Hell.
