I wholeheartedly agree with electing young people to drain the swamp that is the state of US politics.

After what happened to bernie and then now what is going on right now it should be clear that the house and senate are not doing their jobs. They should be the ones creating laws, not the executive branch.

You’ll notice that I didn’t call out a particular party. I think it should be a bipartisan effort. Maybe we’d finally get the younger generations to vote if they could relate to the people in office.

Right now, the answer to authoritarianism isn’t to be quiet. It’s not matching pink outfits at a state address. It’s not throwing trans people under the bus. It’s not refusing to look at the party at all and see where it could be better. The answer is to very publicly, very loudly, very boldly, stand up. The only way to fight fascism, and this has been proven over and over and over again, is loudly, proudly, and every single day.”

Sounds infinitely better than the current Democratic/Nazi-lite party. Just don’t take money from billionaires. That’s how it starts.

The problem is that your opponent will, and then they’ll win. I fear we need major electoral reform before we can squash this problem.

I too remember when fascist Germany and Italy were stopped by people standing up loudly and proudly.

Oh wait, no sorry it was the guns and violence that stopped them.

The time to stand up was the day after Biden’s inauguration, with the Jan 6 Insurrection fresh in everyone’s mind, when he should have declared HitlerPig and all of his henchmen to be national security threats (which they absolutely, 100% were), and detained them for interrogation in Gitmo. There they would have learned about the False Electors Plot and the Stolen Documents, neither of which we knew about yet, and probably a lot more.

There would have been a lot of MAGA whining, but not much else, since his most loyal amd violent subjects were all doing their best to stay off the FBI’s radar. Very few would have been willing to actually get violent over it.

Biden and the Democrats let us down badly.

She sounds great. I want more of this. Even if she got elected and did absolutely nothing of note, the fact that she’s vocally against the status quo would be enough to earn my vote.

I don’t want to discourage you, she seems like a worthy candidate. It’s this “even if they did nothing” talk that grabs me. The average dem voter is so accustomed to weakness that we’re starting to sound like a battered partner.

You’re not wrong. The Democratic strategy for the past what? 35 years now has been to constantly engage in “hippie punching” to try to seem more reasonable to so-called “moderates” by criticizing the Far Left™. So in a sense one could say that the left has been stuck in an abusive relationship for a long time.

To be perfectly honest, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Democratic Party is more or less a lost cause at this point.

The months leading up to the election, the reaction to the loss, and the essential capitulation of DNC leadership in these last couple of months have, to me, proven that they’re manifestly entirely incompetent, and completely unfit for service, especially in such harrowing times. The “opposition” party has sold us down the river and is effectively helping the fascists dismantle the government.

I am unable to effectively express the level of incandescent fury and bone-deep anguish that this feckless ineptitude makes me feel, and I believe that a HUGE number of people in this country feel the same way.

I would further like to note that this whole shitshow of a last year - Biden just… Biden-ing his way into destroying his political legacy and losing the republic, and Democratic/DNC leadership just completely shitting the bed and making REAMS of unforced errors in so many crucial and existential contexts - has convinced me that the Democratic Party is itself a spoiler party, and not genuine opposition. Add that to the fact that I don’t expect the FEC to try to enforce any semblance of fairness going forward, and any objection I have previous had to people (including myself) voting 3p is completely gone. If Sanders and AOC and others who actually appear to give a shit just say “fuck it” and spin up a new party, I would vote for it in a heartbeat.

Stop distracting from the issues. Both are important not just one. You can’t have Republicans literally shaking the foundations of our fucking democracy and have old ass Democrats refuse to fight back and say only the Republicans are the problem.

      They’re both fucking problems.

But have you heard, “blue no matter who.”

But have you heard, “blue no matter who.”

Slogans and behavior like this are directly the fault of the other party. There would be no need for “blue no matter who” if we didn’t have Republicans who refused to discuss education, poverty, social security, medicaid, or any of the other very popular talking points the rest of the Government…you know… Governs on.

You can’t have people like what’s her name Greene talking about Jewish space lasers and then refuse to speak about education reform for her state… You just can’t. We need serious people in power, and if you can’t bring any to the plate, then I’m going to choose from those who are at least willing to speak on education. And if that’s only democrats, then…blue no matter who.

There would be no “blue no matter who,” if Democrats weren’t as tribal as Republicans. But because you empower them regardless of what they didn’t accomplish, or in some cases refuse to accomplish (looking at you Obama with codifying RvW not being a “legislative priority” despite campaigning on it), this is what we get. A corporate party and a fascist party.

There are many independents that speak on accessible education, affordable healthcare, TRANS RIGHTS (“they should follow the law,” lol k Kamala), closing down the concentration camps Trump built in his first term (odd Democrats stopped crying about those when Biden took office, despite still existing and being used MORE under him. But hey at least they realize they’re an issue again now that Trump is back) and more. But liberals just cry that no one else will ever win then put their vote in the “not Red” bucket, regardless of who it is, what they ACTUALLY stand for, and what they meet or may not have accomplished.

Liberals are as addicted to trickle down politics as they are trickle down economics. I’m sure if you keep giving power to people who have no interest in representing you they will eventually throw you a bone. After all, that’s worked so well so far.

It’s amazing to me that you have your head so far up your ass that you have the balls to say shit like this when Republicans are literally in the White House right now showing you exactly who they are.

Firing tens of thousands of people. Destroying the economy in the same way that we did during the Great Depression with tariffs–which have the exact same chance of working now as they did back then. Alienating every ally we have on this planet. Breaking the law with every single official action they make and then complaining about the courts trying to stop them from doing these illegal actions as if the courts are doing something wrong. They’re literally abducting students off the fucking street.

You can complain about Democrats until Kingdom come and you’ll most likely be right about them. But you can never again in the remaining time we have left on this planet put Democrats and Republicans side by side is if they’re the same anymore.

You just can’t fucking do that because it’s not fucking true, and all you have to do to definitively prove that beyond any measure of any doubt is to look at what the White House is doing today…

You don’t get to pretend like the parties are basically the same and we can just agree to disagree. You don’t get to do that anymore. Be as as critical as you want with Democrats. Go to town. But at the end of the day when given the chance Republicans went completely off the fucking rails and went 120% authoritarian.

You can never again make the argument that the two parties are basically the same. Because we have irrefutable empirical evidence that isn’t true…

If you could point out where I said Democrats are just as bad as Republicans I’ll engage with the rest of your comment 😀

Btw Walz just ordered a full RTO for Minnesota (showing us exactly who he is!), pro labor party everyone! So glad you keep trying to put them in power. Further proves my point, neither party is for you.

I’m glad you’re fine with others starving and going homeless so you can live a mediocre life. I want better for everyone.

Thank you, my mighty liberal, for once again saying “yeah shit sucks. bu…bu…bu da Repubwacans 😭”

Also take a look at who voted for the Laken Riley act. Democrats literally rubber stamping the SS lol

Also can’t forget Shumer focusing more that Democrats are “pro Israel” than the very coup happening in our country.

You people fucking suck, stop empowering these shit bags. I keep having to edit my comment because more plain as day shit keeps popping in my head.

Christ if electing Democrats in any way would help prevent the rise of fascism then TRUMP WOULD BE IN PRISON but no the fascist enabling party has enabled FASCISTS.
