These days its very hard to buy a phone from a reputable brand.

    They are still good for alternative builds of Android such as GrapheneOS. Ideally I wouldn’t support Google at all.

        I think CalyxOS is the way to go, they support the Fairphone. Also includes microg instead of sandboxed GApps which is a huge benefit IMO.

          Sandboxed Gapps is better than MicroG. MicroG is the better option when you can’t run GrapheneOS, for non pixels

          Maybe, from what i understand calyx isn’t quite as secure as graphene, but it’s probably negligible. But i don’t use sandboxed gapps and wouldn’t use microg so that’s irrelevant to me, but if it’s ever easy to get a fairphone in the us i’d probably switch, so thanks for shairing!

      So buying a used refurbished pixel phone from a place not associated with google and putting GrapheneOS or something on it would be best? That’s probably also a way to save money.
