Flying to Greece this weekend and it’s my first flight with my OG Steam Deck.

Got Balatro, Vampire Survivors and Chrono Trigger (first play through) loaded up, might also play some RimWorld if I can handle the controls.

I’m tempted by Hades while it’s on sale and I love Dunkey, so Animal Well is also tempting.

What suggestions can y’all make?

Edit: thank you everyone! Went for Hades due to the sale and I love a good rougelike game! Wishlisted a bunch of suggestions and keeping an eye out for a Midnight Suns sale.

I’ll add my vote to the Hades pile, it’s definitely worth full price, so getting it on sale is a bonus

As far as a different recommendation: Dead Cells is always a good time.

I don’t directly have a game recommendation, but make sure to launch the games once before your flight to get the dependencies installed too :) I forgot that last flight and couldn’t play half of the games I planned to because of it…

MVP! Thanks for the reminder, I did it the other day just to test, but I’ll set a reminder to do it before I leave for the airport and maybe test airplane mode with each game before I head out!

I’ll throw some mostly retro curveballs. They should all be more than enough playtime to get you to Greece and probably home again.

The Longest Journey - old point and click adventure game with a sci-fi/fantasy between-worlds story and a likable protagonist. You get insane battery life playing this one.

Free Stars: The Ur-Quan Masters - free release of a 32 year old open world sci-fi adventure. Literally my favorite PC game of all time. It’sa predecessor to games like Mass Effect and Starfield, and the music is incredible. Also a low power demand. This game could run on a toaster.

Marvel Midnight Suns - part phenomenal tactical card strategy game with superheroes, part relationship simulator where you can go stargazing with Spider-Man. Some reviews were harsh because of the weird combination, but if you appreciate the alternating battle/hobnobbing, it’s a hugely entertaining game. Goes on sale quite a bit.

System Shock 2 - Another classic. Bioshock was a spiritual successor to this much deeper, scarier, more complex immersive sim FPS. It shares a ton of DNA with Deus Ex as well. Its predecessor, System Shock 1, was recently remade to much acclaim.

Stardew Valley, it is excellent and will keep you busy the entire flight

2nd vote for Hades and Midnight Suns. FTL is also awesome. Another game I’ve been enjoying on the SD is Horizon Zero Dawn.

Went for Hades because of the sale and I love a rougelike. I happen to have a copy of FTL from a previous Steam sale, so I’ll give it another go! Midnight Suns looks great, but the cost right now isn’t doing it for me.

Noita! Fuck I love that game, and some of the best streamers play with controller, so it’s totally doable. Load it up, and you’ll be in Greece before you know it. Have a good flight! 😊
